Hungry Workshop Workshop
Earlier in the year the Hungry Workshop team asked if I could create some artwork for their upcoming Intro to Letterpress Printing classes, so I was super excited when I had the opportunity to actually print my own design.
Two were created: Happy Birthday and Thank You, and between them they allowed us to test out multiple colours, overprinting and one tasty gradient.
Exploring the studio under the guidance of Matt, we drooled over inks, stocks, sample business cards, and multiple different presses, the oldest of which is around 120 years old.
Over the course of the day we printed two different designs. Photopolymer plates had already been created, so it was down to us to mix inks (according to The Guiding Light That Is the Pantone Book) and place paper ready to feed through each press.
I am the first to admit that my print production knowledge needs work, so this was an incredible insight into both sides of a project, and gets me excited to design more for letterpress!
